Lymphatic Drainage Therapy
Lymph Drainage Therapy (LDT) is an innovative method of manual lymphatic drainage developed by Bruno Chikly, MD, DO. Created out of his award-winning research on the lymphatic system, LDT is consistent with recent scientific discoveries. LDT works through the body's interstitial and lymphatic system to activate the body liquid circulation and stimulate the functioning of the immune and parasympathetic nervous systems through gentle, rhythmic stroking of the skin.
Dr. Chikly’s method enables practitioners to detect and palpate the specific rhythm, direction, depth and quality of the lymph flow anywhere in the body. With developed listening skills, LDT practitioners are able to use their hands to assess and enhance overall circulation as well as determine the best alternate pathways for draining stagnant body fluid (lymph, interstitial, synovial fluid, etc.).
Advanced LDT practitioners develop the skill to perceive and respond to the body's innate ability to heal itself. The practitioner reroutes the lymph by following the subtle indications given by the body enhancing the healing process. Honoring the intelligence of the body ensures deeper and long lasting results.
LDT powerfully aids the healing process and contributes to the resolution of body inflammation of all kinds. Conditions, both general, and specific to lactation that respond well to LDT include:
Mastitis
Plugged milk ducts
Engorgement
Breast abscess
Other lactation related breast inflammations including nipple wounds
Cuts, abrasions, bruises
Edema/Lymphedema
Viral infections
Bacterial infections
Muscle spasm
Neck/back pain
Fibrosis
Skin grafts
Dental procedures
Allergies/hayfever
Vertigo/tinnitus, related to congestion (i.e. eustacian, sinus)
Myopathies
Sinusitis
Autoimmune disorders
Sprains/strains
Eye disorders
Hematoma
Chronic gastrointestinal issues
PMS
Fatigue, stress
Detoxification
And, more!
